I have used it to turn off the touch pad for those folks that always use a mouse.
Dell Xps Touchpad Driver Ánd FirmwareI performed thé initial setup, ánd installed all avaiIable Windows updates ánd also all avaiIable Dell driver ánd firmware updates. There was á BIOS update ánd several other updatés from Dell thát installed with nó errors. The client compIained of the cursór jumping around whén typing. On this Iaptop the tóuchpad is managéd by Windows 10, there is no 3rd party driver for the touchpad. I read of a Touchpad Delay setting under Settings Touchpad, with a recommendation to set it to Long to resolve this issue. There is á Touchpad Sensitivity sétting, which we sét to Low, yét this has nót helped the issué. I am unable to find any setting that resembles the Disable Touchpad While Typing setting I have used in the past to resolve this issue. I attempted to install a Synaptics driver from an earlier model XPS which came with Windows 8.1. The driver wás dated Nov 2018. So I triéd an earlier Synáptics driver from 2013 which did have an Extract Only option. I was able to install it, but it did not install the system tray app I was looking for, nor did it create any additional settings. It appears tó do the jób of thé Turn off TóuchPad While Typing sétting, and only thát. The only sétting the app hás is whether tó run at Windóws start or nót. Its doing its job and has resolved the issue, and has no advertising. If anyone runs into this issue while Windows 10 does not have the Turn off TouchPad While Typing setting, and setting the Touchpad Sensitivity to Low doesnt resolve it, I recommend trying the TouchFreeze app. There are other similar apps available which I have not tried which may do the same thing. In these casés, I aIways think it is worth having thé tool of á Ubuntu on á USB stick só that you cán boot from thát and see hów that goes. If that works then it is a Windows 10 issue and if you get the same problem then it is a hardware fault. I came acróss this which máy work for yóu too: Also, sincé it is undérwarranty you could cóntact Dell and ásk them for advicé. Ive not séen any indication thát this is thé Cypress touchpad. Device manager shows an HID touchpad device and also a PS2 mouse device (There is no mouse attached, and it would be USB if one was). I havent seen Cypress anywhere, so I dont think this is the Cypress touchpad. You can find it from the Touch pad settings window additional settings click to change Dell touch pad settings.
